ORTHODOX EASTER CELEBRATIONS, SYMI, GREECE

Orthodox Easter celebrations in Greece are one week later than the Christian Easter celebrations so we were lucky to celebrate twice.

Food grade paint to color the eggs is not available in this part of the world so Liza came up with her own surprise.
"Nest" eggs, Easter bread and "chicky" eggs, all made by Liza.

We made a video of the Orthodox Easter celebrations. The explosions you hear in the video were initialy explained to us as part of their “tradition”. However further investigation taught us that the “tradition” is only a few decades old. Firecrackers and explosions is a cunning attempt by the clergy to keep the youth attracted to and involved in the church.

We hope you enjoy watching this short video.

Warm regards, Liza and Frits.
